Adults with a background in philosophy will easily recognize the perennial philosophical issues raised in the story. However, no such background is necessary for young people or adults to enjoy this thought-provoking novel.

I read this as a kid and loved it - as I recall it's essentially a guide to philosophy and logic wrapped in a children's story. This is stuff that gets taught in college classes, explained so it makes sense to a 10 year old.
