Excellent exploration of Israel in Scripture I've not read all the way through the book yet But loving it. I give my great thanks to the author: Dr Fruchtenbaum! Even though he is a dispensationalist, he presents all possible if not plausible arguments for Israel's role according to different theological viewpoints.

The book presents a very much needed volume for exploring the Truth of Scripture, regarding the very important and misunderstood matter of God's original elect: the fig tree: the nation of Israel May God bless Israel and bring her to redemption!! And He will, as He says. I love theological studies and expositional, hermeneutical interpretation of the Word of God. Literally, what does it say? I want to know what God had to say in communicating it to them and then to us. I really frustrates me how so many "scholars" attempt to force themselves into scripture.

It's very American of them. Dr Fruchtenbaum systematically dispels one of the grossest misinterpretations of scripture - replacement theology - by simply exposing what God says in His Word and allowing the reader to see for themselves. If you are a student of theology on any level - in school or just interested , this is a MUST read. I challenge you to read it throughout. Fruchtenbaum is fair to other systems of theology and considers their views in light of direct citations from their theologians.

He simply places the various schools of thought covenant theology, etc up against scripture. If we stand on the hope of Jesus keeping His unconditional "eternal" new covenant with us Believers then why would we assume that he just violates or erases the unconditional "eternal" covenants that he made with Israel? This is not a "pro-judaism" book. This is not a racist book. This is not dual covenant teaching. Fruchtenbaum is clear that Jesus Christ alone is the messiah and is the only salvation to Jews and Gentiles alike.

He never argues that Jews are superior to gentiles or that they have some unique relationship to God that gentiles are left out of. This is a book about the plan of God throughout history past, present, and future that centers on a people that He chose to carry that plan - start to finish. Even if you disagree with Dr Fruchtenbaum, it is important to understand the case for dispensationalism. This is the tool for that.

This is a good book. The reader should bear in mind, however that it is a doctoral thesis that is incredibly dense in places.

Overall, it does a great job in laying out the essential need for and grounds for belief in a dispensational Israeolgy. Although I am not a a pre-tribulationalist, I found much common ground with Dr Fruchtenbaums' beliefs.

I found toe most useful part or the book to be the appendices where he scrupulously points out the pitfalls of Messianic Judaism from a scriptural perspective. That makes this book a must-read for any Messianic believer. This over page volume is the result of a doctoral submission that was originally over pages. It reads easily and the print is reader friendly. Margins on each page leave room for commentary. The subject matter is thoroughly covered with contrasting views of the author's with fair treatment of differing views.

The author is Dispensational, Biblical and of Jewish background writing as a Christian today. If you are looking for the most comprehensive treatment of Israel's past, present and future from a Biblical perspective, you can't do better. His treatment utilizes literal approach to the Bible as opposed to the allegorical approach used so often among liberal Protestantism and others borrowed from and adapted from Early Church writers such as Origen and Augustine. Literalism allows for accuracy while allegorical permits personal interpretation and often misuse of the meaning of plain Scripture.

Literalism may seem dry at points but it doesn't sacrifice accuracy for excitement. Allegorical interpretations of Scripture have been the basis, when taken to the extreme, for anti-Semitism over the centuries. This volume avoids that by staying literal and remains faithful to Scripture and history. A tremendous resource, extremely well researched. Go to Amazon. Back to top. Get to Know Us. Israelology the Missing Link in Systematic Theology, Used

In order to utilize all of the features of this web site, JavaScript must be enabled in your browser. This groundbreaking study investigates four approaches to the theology of Israel past, present and future; and scrutinizes beliefs that tend to confuse the identities of both Israel and the Church. Amazingly, this ground breaking work is the first to create an entire systematic theology of all that the Scriptures say in regard to the people of Israel. As such, Israelology fills a tremendously neglected void, while affecting nearly every other segment of systematic theology and directly addressing a crucial point of division in evangelical theology today. Its far-reaching conclusion is that only the last, with its clear distinction between Israel and the Church, can, in fact, provide a systematized biblical doctrine of Israel.
